'Peasant and Court Music and Dances of France'

Four separate shows, all premiered at the Purcell Room, featuring Jean-Pierre Rasle (storyteller, bagpipes, voice, shepherd's oboe), Matthew Spring (hurdy-gurdy, cittern, piano accordion) and Sara Stowe (voice, pipe organ, harpsichord).

The Pastorales trio, with an additional fiddle player, are also available as FOLIES BERGERES (literally 'Crazy Shepherds), exploring a little-known area of popular and court music of the 17th and 18th centuries, and presenting a light-hearted view of the musical scene of the time.
